Five steps: two runs and a landing
Five 7 inch risers are 35 inches, over the 30 inches one run may climb. The 35 ft of ramp is built as two runs with a level landing between them; split evenly, each run is 17.5 ft.
The landings bring the footprint to 45 ft, about 14 times the 3.33 ft the steps take. At this height a switchback, with the second run folded back beside the first, or a platform lift is worth pricing against a straight ramp.

Frequently asked questions
How long of a ramp do I need for 5 steps?
Measure the total height. 5 steps with 7 inch risers are 35 inches, which needs a 35 ft ramp at 1:12 (1 foot of ramp per inch of rise). With 7.75 inch risers the rise is 38.75 inches and the ramp is 38.75 ft.
How much room does a ramp for 5 steps take?
About 45 ft at 1:12 with 7 inch risers: 35 ft of sloping ramp plus 2 landings of 5 ft. Folding it at the middle landing roughly halves the length and doubles the width.
How high are 5 steps?
Usually 30 to 38.75 inches, at 6 to 7.75 inches a riser. Count every riser, including the last one up onto the porch or threshold, or simply measure from the ground to the door sill.
