Tree height for a 7.5 ft ceiling, by stand and topper
The stand, the topper and the gap you leave under the ceiling all come off the ceiling height. Here is the tallest tree and the largest standard size for a 7.5 ft ceiling with different combinations:

The largest size is not always the best choice. A full tree is about 60% as wide as it is tall, and the floor space includes a foot each side. The last column is the space left above an 8 inch topper.

A 7½ ft ceiling: between two sizes
This ceiling sits between two standard tree heights. With a 3 inch stand and an 8 inch topper you get a 6.5 ft tree with nothing to spare. A 7 ft tree fits only if you skip the topper or keep it very flat: it needs 6 more inches than this ceiling gives with the usual star.
Artificial trees in this range usually come in sections, so check the height printed on the box includes the top pole, which is often what you trim or bend to make room.
